Quality of Vision Subtle Symptoms

Vision quality, years ago, was identified by the EYE Chart singularly. Today, some eye doctors incorporate other types of testing for your eyes. This may include a questionnaire about how you see, a contrast sensitivity test that measures how you see in different lighting and shading, as well as, perhaps, other tests to rule out eye conditions.

As we delve down the quality of vision, vague or mild symptoms may allow for early detection of eye conditions in which you may benefit from early treatment to prevent progression of vision loss or more invasive treatment later on.   Three of the most common symptoms are blurred vision, low vision and contrasted lighting vision difficulties. At times, you may experience no symptoms or your symptoms may be slightly different. So, it’s wise to know you may have an eye condition without symptoms or slight variable symptoms. In any case, regular eye exams and a professional diagnosis are critically important to preserve your vision.

Blurry Vision Symptoms

While there are several eye conditions that relate to blurry vision, Astigmatism is one of the most common conditions of people young and old that may cause blurry vision.  Astigmatism is a natural anomaly of the eyes that may be due to an irregular cornea shape, clear eye cover irregularity, or an irregularity in the curvature of the lens inside the eye. Eye glasses, contact lenses, LASIK or other refractive surgery options may be available for you to choose from. So,  you may want to check out options for reducing or omitting the need for eyeglasses or contacts. Then, you can learn more about what you need to know about blurry vision.

Blurry vision is also a common symptom for age related eye conditions, blurry related eye conditions, eye injury and linked medical conditions.  More specifically, there are a number of eye conditions related to Glare or bright light interference. For example, when coupled with inhibited ability to see colors, these symptoms may be linked to Achromatopsia, a rare, genetic vision disorder which may be remedied with sunglasses or tinted contact lenses, including:  vision magnifiers for reading and telescopes for distant vision when accompanied with low vision. Glare associated with bright light may be the result of other eye conditions or eye surgery. Though this is very rare, eye doctors still provide methods to improve glares.

Low Vision Symptoms and Contrasting Light Difficulties

Low vision is defined by the inhibited visual acuity and/or the limited ability to identify objects in contrasting lighting or shading. This eye condition is linked to macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, presbyopia, choroideremia, optic nerve atrophy and other eye conditions or diseases. Vision loss due to low vision may interfere with competency for some day- to-day activities, such as driving, but may also provide enough eyesight to conduct many normal activities. Low vision symptoms are critically important to diagnose to rule out and treat related eye conditions, as well as, prevent blindness.    Low vision treatment may be simple since there are several options for optical devices for many conditions, including: eyeglass-mounted telescopes, electronic magnifying glasses, and special computer software that offers larger type or voice triggered reading.
