Since there are only 9,000 U.S. Geriatric physicians and 20,000 are required to support current elder care needs in the U.S., it may seem to feel difficult to find a geriatric doctor. In fact, ten year projections suggest that America will need 36,000 geriatric physicians, but now only 10% of the nation’s medical schools offer dedicated geriatric training programs. Some Internal medicine doctors focus a portion of their practice on geriatric care. There are also mobile physicians who are the modern day Marcus Welby M.D.’s that may be able to see you or your loved one faster, and more conveniently than other medical professionals.

Selecting A Mobile Physician

Mobile physicians offer a great way for many seniors to remain at home. There are also Companions, In Home Caregivers, and In Home Nurses- some of which may be volunteers! Of course, there are always other options. The quality of medical insurance coverage for senior care varies among insurance carriers. There is a wealth of resources to assist with senior care. PPO (preferred provider) insurance companies with a wide range of options for greater medical provider accessibility, in-home support and medical supplies, which may make more sense when compared to HMO plans.

There are also long term care insurance plans that are a wise investment for anyone of any adult age.

There are also many types of resources available for added financial and quality of life assistance, but it may be difficult to know these types unless you invest time into research. So, we hope to make this simpler for you!
