Erectile Dysfunction

The study focused on bringing together researchers from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL and Northshore University Health System, Evanston, IL. The goal was to determine how frequently medical therapies were used to treat the condition for 6.2 million men with Erectile Dysfunction and determine results from treatment.

There are many types of safe and effective treatments available for Erectile Dysfunction. Your Primary Care Physician or Urologist may be involved on your care for Erectile Dysfunction to present options that relate to their practice focus.  Your Primary Care Physician may refer you to a Urologist or other medical specialty providers to diagnose and treat Erectile Dysfunction.

Often, oral medications provide a meaningful solution for Erectile Dysfunction. This may include a prescription for a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5i)- quite common, injection or urethral prostaglandins or androgen replacement (ART)- less common. According to the above mentioned study results, far more men treat Erectile Dysfunction for low testosterone levels when compared to those who have Erectile Dysfunction due to Prostate Cancer. Still, men who have Erectile Dysfunction due to most any cause may have a treatment option available to them. More invasive treatment may be surgical treatment, such as a penal implant. The options for Erectile Dysfunction have come  along way in recent years.
